Transitioning Into Spring Style

Starting as early as February, stores display mannequins galore parading around in their floral shorts, colored tanks, and swimsuits advertising the upcoming spring season. Unfortunately, this can be frustrating when everyone is still bundled up in their warmest coat while shivering from the cold. There are multiple ways to get around this dilemma with some style tips that can help fashionable students to look warm-weather ready while keeping from freezing.

Rompers are perfect for spring and summer weather, as they give the ease of a dress while allowing for more secure coverage. When it is still cold out, pair the romper with knee-high boots, also appreciating its protection from having a Marilyn moment during wind gusts. As it gets warmer, change the boots for a cute pair of booties or sandals.

Boho is another recurrent spring look. Peasant tops capture the boho style’s essence, yet are also perfect for layering with a coordinating jacket. They can be paired with jeans for colder weather, and in warmer weather, a pair of jean shorts will create an equally cool outfit.

Maxi skirts are a great way to join warm-weather fashion with colder-weather fashion. The length of maxi skirts is long enough to shield legs from the elements while giving the flair of spring. Skirts that have a jersey-like fabric are the best to keep warm in colder weather since this adds an extra layer of comfort.

Printed pants or leggings are a great way to combat the dullness of winter. They can have floral or tribal prints and add a little pop of color to your outfit while providing warmth and comfort. These are easily paired with tall boots or short booties.

Chambray shirts are light, making them perfect for layering. Style it with a cute blazer or leather jacket and tucked into a pair of jeans, leaving a look that is not too heavy and overwhelming for this transitional weather. Lighter chambray shirts add a color that contrasts well to neutral cold-weather pieces.

Another option is pairing a cute tank, either solid-colored or patterned, with a textured cardigan. If that is not warm enough, throw on a medium-weight, light-colored jacket in a color like army green.

Cold shoulder tops are another option as they can cover arms while leaving a cute opening, which adds a twist to the typical long sleeve shirt commonly found during winter. They can be dressed up or down and paired easily with shorts when the weather gets warmer.

If you are still sporting that same gray sweater you have habitually worn for the past three months, but want to spice it up for the spring, textures are a surefire solution. By adding lace or pleats, the sweater gains extra dimension and the typical wintry look has a nice twist.

With creativity and a willingness to mix winter and spring wardrobes, it is simple to create practical looks that avoid repeating your December to February wardrobe.

Get My Look: Twist on Anna Sui Resort 2016 Show

In the Anna Sui resort 2016 collection, Anna uses a lot of prints and floral with duller colors in the form of flowing dresses or skirts. She uses trims and frills to accent each piece. She completes the looks with high black boots. This look is timeless and works for pretty much any occasion.

A staple in my closet during the fall and wintertime is knee high boots. I love the way they can dress up any outfit and how they cover my legs so I can still stay warm without wearing tights. I’m usually not big into dresses or skirts just because I feel that it’s uncomfortable to keep fidgeting to upkeep the look. Rompers, however, have always been a personal favorite of mine. They’re comfortable and I don’t have to worry about things coming undone.

I’m a fan of this look, but instead of wearing a dress or skirt, I chose a romper with a similar dull red print. The bottom of the romper swings out to give that dress-like look and add an extra bit of flare. I added my knee-high suede black boots to pull this look together. I wanted to keep it simple and classic like Anna Sui does, so I didn’t jump for any heavy jewelry. Instead, I wore simple, stackable bracelets.

This outfit is definitely great for a winter day or night. It’s comfortable and a nice twist on a runway look. What more can you ask for?

Hawaii | 2015

During the end of December, I got the privilege to go to Hawaii. It’s not my first time, but it was so much fun. Every time I go, I experience the beauty of nature even more. Holiday Gift Guide: For Her

It’s that time of year again! Ugh how I love December. I mean besides finals, but whatever. 25 Days of Christmas is playing and it’s time to watch Elf like everyday. I was feeling in the Christmas Spirit and decided to come up with a holiday gift guide just for fun so go ahead and turn on Michael Buble’s rendition of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and let’s get gift buyin’!

Apparel: 

Personally, I’m a fan of bralettes over typical bras. PacSun has recently released a really cute bralette that is very comfortable. I think it’s the perfect gift to get for any girl.

I think that it’s a necessity towards holiday time to get plaid red and black pajama pants perfect for Christmas Eve and waking up Christmas morning.

The plaid poncho look is very in right now and perfect for Winter time. It’s a great way to spice up any outfit. There are definitely pricier options, but Forever 21 has a very good priced one.

If you’re just looking for a cheap present (or a staple piece for your closet) I have the perfect one. This skater skirt from Forever 21 is cheap and cute! What more can you ask for?

A good scarf is always a necessity especially for those colder climates. I recently bought a scarf on Black Friday that is legitimately the coziest scarf I have ever touched.

Gadgets:

I have always…and I mean always…wanted a record player. I think the sound quality is amazing and I’m literally obsessed with music. My current favorite color is a light pink and I found the record player that matches this perfectly. 

For as long as I can remember I have always just used the regular iPhone headphones, but I have heard such great things about over the ear headphones that I really want to give them a try. As said above, I love the rose gold look and have found the cutest pair!I love string lights so much. They add such a nice, homey vibe to any room. I currently have these ones in my dorm room and I think they’re so cute.

Misc:

Candles are my new favorite obsession. I’m legitimately Jennifer from Scream Queens. I think that it’s such an easy way to brighten up any room (besides dorm rooms because they’re all against that stuff). 

I have found the cutest candle holder and it’s the perfect gift for her at a good price!

I’m sorry but it’s a must. My current phone case fave is from casetify. I absolutely love the print and the marble look.

I tend to be a very stressful person and need ways to cope with it. My friend showed me a coloring book that’s meant just for stress relief and I think it’s the greatest thing. It works so well I must say myself (and at least you’re procrastinating beneficially). If you’re just looking for presents for friends (or for yourself) these are a bunch of great options for any personality type!

Fall Lipstick Colors

This time of year, leaves are changing color, the weather is getting colder, and fashion sense is shifting from sandals to knee high boots. With fall comes the fun in picking out a new color palette for your wardrobe and makeup routine. Lipstick is an essential part to any outfit, but what really seals the deal between in-style and out of it is have the colors match with the time you’re out the door for any occasion.

Nude lipstick colors are perfect for a fall day, all day. They look natural and are easy to maintain. Charlotte Tilbury’s K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Nude Kate fits the bill. Although it’s $32, don’t fret! A similar tone is available through Colourpop’s Lippie in Skimpy for $5. These classic colors are perfect for a professional setting as they are not too distracting.

Brown lipstick has been popular since the ‘90s. It is just a darker nude, which is perfect for night. It gives a subtle, darker look without going all out. Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Lip Color in Raisin Berry gives a red tinge. Yes, it’s $27, but there’s a similar color from NYX Matte Lipstick in Maison for $5.99. It doesn’t have the red tinge, but it’s a perfect brown for a Fall night.

Dark red or burgundy lipstick is crucial to every woman’s make up bag especially in the fall. It gives a great velvety look and can help spice up any outfit. This lipstick color can work for both day and night. A very well-known deep red lipstick is NARS’ Semi Matte Lipstick in VIP Red that’s going for $27. The matte finish makes the overall look bolder and more appropriate for Fall. NYX’s Matte Lipstick in Eden gives a very similar deep burgundy tone and matte finish for just $5.99.

It may be weird to think about, but purple lipstick is an amazing fall lipstick color for the day, as it spruces up fall wardrobes and gives outfits the pop of color they may need. Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Stronger is a highly-acclaimed purple lipstick. It gives that fluorescent, yet rich tone that is essential for a highly colored lipstick. This runs for $30, but Ruby Kisses Ultra Matte Lipstick in Lilac does close to the same job and has a very similar color for only $2.99.

Dark purple lipstick, as opposed to light purple, is more appropriate for night time adventures. This lipstick tone gives a darker and fiercer look. Dark purple lipstick can almost fade into black, which creates a pulled together and bold look. For $20, Anastasia’s Liquid Lipstick in Potion gives a bold and rich purple tone. If you want to splurge, NARS’ Audacious Lipstick in Ingrid is a dark color similar to that of black current and is $32. If saving is more your craft, Jordana’s Modern Matte Lipstick in Matte Dare is just $2.99 and gives a nice and dark purple tone that will wow anyone.

Top Five Fall Essentials

It’s that time of year again! The leaves are changing different colors and falling, the weather’s dropping temperatures, and school is in full bustle. With that comes, of course, fashion essentials for fall! All of these essentials can be paired with each other and be made into different variations to create more outfits to last through all of Fall.

Military Jacket

I absolutely love military jackets. They keep me so warm are so cozy! They go with everything. You can pair it with jeans, leggings, or even a sweater dress!

Sweater dresses

My new obsession! I absolutely love sweater dresses because I think that it’s doing exactly what fall does: mix summer with winter. It’s a sweater, but it’s long enough to wear with or without tights! As I said above, they can go great with military jackets.

Booties

A cute pair of booties is the best thing to invest in. They go with pretty much everything and are super trendy especially in the fall. They could even work in winter depending on the amount of snow you get.

Leggings

I don’t think there will ever be a time where I would be able to live without leggings. I just love them. They go with everything and are super comfortable. For days where I have class straight from 8 am to 8:30 pm, I throw on a comfortable pair of leggings and I’m set for the entire day.

Infinity scarf

I love wearing infinity scarves because they’re a great way for me to spice up my outfit. Furry ones are my favorite type for obvious reasons (they’re extra warm and extra comfy!)
